The M1 chip is powerful and fast and I am a big fan of it. There are different newly released apple devices that are equipped with the M1 chip and not just the M1 iMac. As a regular consumer like you, it is important that whatever M1 equipped device (if you are buying one) that we choose would be the one that best fits our workflow and lifestyle.
